Mahwelereng Shopping Centre: A thriving community hub expanding to over 20,000m² in 2026, evolving into Limpopo's vibrant 30,000m² flagship retail destination.

GMI Property Group is thrilled to announce the continued growth and expansion of the Mahwelereng Retail Node, a thriving commercial hub strategically located to serve the dynamic and growing Mahwelereng community.

The Mahwelereng Retail Node first opened in 2013 with the successful completion of Phase 1, anchored by Shoprite, and offering 13,000m² of Gross Lettable Area (GLA). Since then, the center has become a key shopping destination for the area, with very strong trade, prompting significant interest from national retailers and demonstrating clear potential for further development.

Now, Phase 2 is officially underway and is expected to open towards the end of 2026. Anchored by Boxer & Boxer Liquor in Phase 2 – and will add an additional 9 000m² GLA, bringing the total development size to over 20,000m². This phase will include an expanded mix of retailers, including fashion, furniture, and other popular national brands. Notably, Clicks has also expressed interest in joining the lineup. Over and above significant services upgrades, the existing centre will also be upgraded and part of the Phase 2 expansion.

Phase 2 will further enhance the customer experience by introducing a modern food court with outdoor seating, creating a comfortable and enjoyable leisurely environment for shoppers. The expansion will also extend banking and essential services available at the center, reinforcing its role as a comprehensive community hub.

Phase 3:
3 – 4 years commencing in 2028/29. A third grocery store as anchor will be added & an extra 7000m2 GLA total – 27 000m2
